Let's be Real - Mental Health for Young Minds

Mental health workshops for students

Sessions for students aged 11-18 on what they are feeling, why, and what to do about it - without a lecture.

Young people usually know something is off long before they have words for it. These workshops give them the vocabulary, the sense that they are not unusual, and a concrete route to help.

What students work on

  • Naming emotions with more precision than fine or stressed
  • What stress does to sleep, focus and mood - and what helps
  • Spotting when a low patch has become something bigger
  • How to ask an adult for help, and what to say first
  • Supporting a friend without carrying it for them

How the sessions run

Ninety minutes, interactive, with scenarios drawn from school life rather than clinical case studies. Nobody is put on the spot: students practise in pairs and small groups, and every activity works whether or not they choose to speak.

The full literacy sequence

Schools that want more than a one-off run our six Mental Health Literacy modules across a term or a year, so the language builds instead of arriving once and fading.

Neurodivergence and inclusion

Materials are written to be readable, predictable and low-demand: clear structure, no forced disclosure, a dyslexia-friendly typeface and alternatives to speaking in front of the group.

What schools put in place around it

A workshop works when the adults are ready for what follows. We agree the referral route with your pastoral team beforehand, and most schools pair student sessions with staff training and a parent evening in the same term.

Common questions

Which year groups are the workshops for?
Sessions are written separately for lower secondary and upper secondary, with the language, examples and pace adjusted to the age group.
Is a mental health workshop safe for students who are struggling?
Yes. Sessions are non-disclosure by design: nobody is asked to share personal history in front of peers. We agree a referral route with the school beforehand so anyone who wants to talk afterwards knows exactly where to go.
How long is a student workshop?
Ninety minutes is the standard slot. Schools can also run the full Mental Health Literacy sequence of six modules across a term.
Do you need teachers in the room?
We ask for at least one member of staff present. It keeps safeguarding clear and means the adults hear the same language the students are given.
Are the workshops available in German?
Yes, all student workshops run in English and German.
